INTERNATIONAL ENGLISH LANGUAGE TESTING SYSTEM


The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a language ability check for study and immigration, with more than 3 million assessments taken in the past year.

IELTS TEST FORMATS


The IELTS grades all four language abilities: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. You will attempt the Listening, Reading, and Writing exams all on the same day, one after the other, without any breaks. Depending upon your test center, your Speaking assessment may be on an identical day as the other three or seven days before or after.

The entire test-taking time is less than three hours.


TEST PATTERN OF IELTS

The score in each subtest and overall (average) scores are recorded as levels of ability, called bands.

Total Score: 9 for each section and an overall band out of 9.

SECTION 1 - LISTENING 30 Minutes
4 Sections: 40 Questions
Sec. 1 and Sec. 3 Dialogues
Sec. 2 and Sec. 4 Monologues
SECTION 2 - READING 60 Minutes
3 Sections: 40 Questions
13 to 14 Questions per section
SECTION 3 - WRITING, 60 Minutes
2 Tasks:
Task 1: Test takers are required to describe visual information in their own words in approximately 150 words.
Task 2: Test takers are required to present a point of view on an argument/problem and are expected to complete this task in around 250 words.
Task 2 carries more weight than Task 1.
SECTION 4 - SPEAKING 11-14 Minutes
3 Sections:
Part 1 - Personal Interview 4-5 minutes
Part 2 - A short speech (2 minutes) and questions asked on the topic 3-4 minutes
Part 3 - Involves a discussion on the above topic

Course Duration: Course Duration: 6 weeks- (4 weeks of coaching + 2 weeks of prep time)

REGISTRATION PROCESS

The examination fee for IELTS is Rs. 15,500/-. One can register online at any IMFS center and pay the test fee by credit card (Master/VISA) or through https://www.ieltsidpindia.com.

The student has the option while registering for the test to list the names of five universities on the IELTS form, which will be sent to the universities free of cost.

The IELTS scores are valid for two years.

The speaking test is a discussion over 11-14 mins with an authorized IELTS Examiner. It is made up of 3 sections and is recorded.

IELTS uses a nine-band scoring rubric to analyze scores systematically. You acquire individual band scores for Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking and an Overall Band Score on a band scale from one to nine.

Yes. The examiners marking your answers to the questions will not see your question paper.

There’s no time limit on retaking the test. However, we strongly propose you do an extra mock exam before retaking the IELTS.
