SAT Registration 2025-26: Complete Guide for Indian Students
The SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) is a standardised test conducted by the College Board and accepted by thousands of universities across the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, and other countries. For Indian students targeting undergraduate admissions abroad — particularly in the United States — a strong SAT score is one of the most important components of your application.
Many top US universities that went test-optional during COVID-19 have reinstated SAT/ACT requirements for 2025 and 2026 admissions, including MIT, Yale, Dartmouth, and others. This makes registering for and preparing for the SAT more important than ever.

SAT Exam Format — What Indian Students Need to Know
The SAT is now fully digital and computer-adaptive. There is no paper version.
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Format | Digital, computer-adaptive |
| Total Duration | 2 hours 14 minutes + 10-minute break |
| Sections | Reading & Writing + Mathematics |
| Score Range | 400–1600 |
| Negative Marking | No |
| Device | Laptop or tablet (College Board’s Bluebook app) |
Adaptive format explained: The SAT adjusts the difficulty of questions in the second module of each section based on your performance in the first module. A stronger first module leads to harder (but higher-scoring) second module questions.

- No limit on the number of attempts—you can take the SAT multiple times and send your best score
