GMAT coaching led by Nitin Lathe, Head of Test Preparation Faculty, IMFS — 26 years teaching experience · 45,000+ students trained across GMAT, GRE, SAT, IELTS and TOEFL
Test prep and MBA admissions under one roof — your GMAT score is coached to exactly what your target programs require.
IMFS has been India's first dedicated GMAT coaching institute since 1997, as part of our integrated test prep and study abroad consultancy. For over 27 years, we have helped thousands of students achieve 700+ scores and gain admission to top global MBA and business programs including ISB, Rotman, HEC Paris, and programs across the USA, UK, and Canada.
What sets IMFS apart: your GMAT preparation is directly connected to your MBA admissions strategy. We don't just coach you to score — we coach you to the exact target your shortlisted programs require, and guide you through every stage from GMAT prep to visa.
🎯 IMFS GMAT achievers: Abhinav Shetty — 760 · Akarsh Shukla — 750 · Shashank Karanjkar — 750. These scores were achieved on the classic GMAT (200–800 scale). The current GMAT Focus Edition uses a 205–805 scale — business schools compare by percentile across both editions.
Every student begins with a free full-length GMAT diagnostic. Section scores identify exactly where you are losing marks before a single coaching session begins.
Your target score is set against your actual MBA shortlist — not a generic 700 benchmark. IMFS coaches you to what your programs actually require.
GMAT prep and MBA application guidance from the same team at the same branch. Program shortlisting, essays, Kira Talent interview prep, scholarship guidance — all included.
Mumbai (Dadar, Thane, Borivali, Vashi) · Pune (Shivaji Nagar) · Hyderabad (Kukatpally, LB Nagar, Madhapur) · Nellore · Warangal. Weekday and weekend batches.

The GMAT Focus Edition, launched November 7, 2023, fully replaced the old GMAT by February 2024. As of 2026, it is simply called the GMAT Exam.
It is a computer-adaptive test (CAT) — question difficulty adjusts based on your performance for precise skill measurement. Accepted by over 7,000 programs worldwide.
| Section | Questions | Time | What's Tested |
|---|---|---|---|
| Quantitative Reasoning | 21 questions Problem Solving only | 45 min | Arithmetic, Algebra, Data Analysis (Geometry and Data Sufficiency removed) |
| Verbal Reasoning | 23 questions Reading Comprehension + Critical Reasoning | 45 min | RC passages (~350 words), argument evaluation (Sentence Correction removed) |
| Data Insights | 20 questions Data Sufficiency, Multi-Source, Graphical, Table, Two-Part | 45 min | Data interpretation, logical reasoning, multi-format analysis (On-screen calculator available) |
| Total | 64 Questions | 2 hrs 15 min | Score: 205–805 (all scores end in 5) · Valid: 5 years |
📌 Key features: (1) Section order is fully customisable at the start. (2) Question Review & Edit — change up to 3 answers per section within remaining time. (3) No negative marking for wrong answers — but unanswered questions are penalised. Always attempt every question. (4) One optional 10-minute break between any two sections. (5) Calculator available for Data Insights only. (6) All Focus Edition scores end in 5.
Tests mathematical reasoning. All questions are Problem Solving type. Topics: Arithmetic, Algebra, Data Analysis. Both Geometry and Data Sufficiency have been removed — DS questions moved to Data Insights. No calculator. Section score: 60–90.
Tests reading comprehension and critical reasoning. Two types: Reading Comprehension (passages ~350 words) and Critical Reasoning (evaluate arguments, identify assumptions). Sentence Correction fully removed. Section score: 60–90.
New section replacing Integrated Reasoning. Includes Data Sufficiency moved from Quant plus Multi-Source Reasoning, Graphical Interpretation, Table Analysis, Two-Part Analysis. On-screen calculator available. Section score: 60–90.
💡 Data Insights is where most students lose marks. DS questions in a new context, plus four additional question types. The critical shift: DS requires you to determine whether data is sufficient to answer, not to actually solve the problem. IMFS dedicates specific coaching sessions to DI strategy — it is the highest-leverage section for score improvement.
Both formats have identical content, difficulty, scoring, and global recognition. The choice depends on environment preference and budget.
💡 Not sure which to choose? Both are equally accepted by all business schools globally. IMFS prepares students for both. Speak to your branch counsellor based on your test date, environment preference, and comfort with typing vs. handwriting scratch work.
⚠️ Two score scales exist: The current GMAT Focus Edition uses 205–805 (scores end in 5). The old GMAT used 200–800 (scores ended in 0). The scales are not directly comparable by number — use percentile to compare. A 700 on the old scale ≈ 650 on the Focus Edition scale. Business schools compare by percentile, not number.
| Focus Edition Score | Approx. Percentile | Old GMAT Equivalent | Context |
|---|---|---|---|
| 705+ | ~98th | ~750 (old scale) | Elite — top 2% of test-takers |
| 685–695 | ~95th–97th | ~730–740 (old scale) | Harvard, Wharton, Stanford median range |
| 665–675 | ~93rd–95th | ~710–720 (old scale) | INSEAD, ISB competitive range |
| 645–655 | ~89th–91st | ~700 (old scale) | Competitive for most top B-schools |
| 625–635 | ~82nd–86th | ~680 (old scale) | Competitive for many strong programs |
| Score valid: 5 years · Attempts: max 5 per year, 8 lifetime · Minimum gap: 16 days · All Focus Edition scores end in 5 | |||
🎓 Note on IMFS student score cards: The GMAT scores shown by our students (760, 750) were achieved on the classic GMAT (200–800 scale), which ended in round numbers. The Focus Edition (205–805) uses a different scale — all scores end in 5. Both are equally valid, and business schools use percentile rankings to compare scores across editions.

From your first free diagnostic test to your MBA admit letter — IMFS covers every stage.
Begin with a free full-length adaptive GMAT diagnostic. Section-wise scores, personalised study plan, and weak-area identification before committing to coaching.
Dedicated DI coaching covering all five question types — Data Sufficiency, Multi-Source Reasoning, Graphical Interpretation, Table Analysis, and Two-Part Analysis — with on-screen calculator strategy.
Focused coaching on Problem Solving accuracy and speed in Arithmetic, Algebra, and Data Analysis. With Geometry removed, IMFS faculty focus entirely on algebraic and numerical reasoning.
CR and RC carry the full Verbal score. IMFS coaches argument structure identification for CR and efficient passage strategies for RC — targeting the specific question subtypes where most students lose marks.
Regular timed full-length GMAT mocks under real exam conditions — section ordering choice, one 10-minute break, 45 minutes per section. Detailed performance analytics after each mock.
Your GMAT prep connects directly to your MBA applications. Program shortlisting for USA, UK, Canada, Europe, and India; essay strategy; interview prep; scholarship guidance — all from the same team.
Key strategies our faculty teaches for each section — built from 27+ years of GMAT coaching experience.
Many GMAT Quant questions can be solved faster through estimation, elimination, or plugging in values — not by working through full algebra. IMFS teaches question-type recognition so students know within 10 seconds which approach to apply. Accuracy at higher difficulty levels determines 700+ Focus Edition scores.
CR questions require identifying premises, conclusion, and assumption before evaluating answer choices. Students who attempt CR by "feeling" consistently underperform. IMFS teaches a structured argument map approach that brings CR accuracy above 80% for most students within 3 weeks of targeted practice.
With 20 questions in 45 minutes, time pressure is real. IMFS teaches a two-pass approach: answer the straightforward Data Sufficiency and Graphical Interpretation questions first, then return to complex Multi-Source Reasoning sets. Use the Question Review & Edit feature to flag uncertain answers.
The most common DI mistake: students try to fully solve the problem rather than simply determining if the data is sufficient to answer it. You don't need the answer — you need to know if the answer CAN be found. IMFS drills this distinction intensively. It alone can add significant points.
The GMAT allows you to choose your section order. IMFS recommends starting with your strongest section — this maximises accuracy in that section and builds confidence. Your IMFS diagnostic mock results will identify your optimal order.
Scores shown are on the classic GMAT (200–800 scale). The current GMAT Focus Edition uses the 205–805 scale where all scores end in 5. Both are equally valid — business schools compare by percentile.
"IMFS helped me identify my weaknesses and build a personalised study plan. The mock test simulations were a game changer. I owe a lot of my GMAT success to their mentorship."
"The team at IMFS was supportive throughout. They knew exactly what business schools look for and helped me bring out the best version of myself. Highly recommend."
"From quant tricks to verbal logic, IMFS cracked the GMAT code. Their approach to Data Insights was particularly helpful — that section is new territory for most students."
