The Digital Master Test (dMAT) is a standardised academic aptitude test developed by universities in collaboration with g.a.s.t. — the same body behind TestDaF and TestAS. From 2026, it is introduced as a new additional element in the APS India documentation and verification process for selected Indian graduates applying for Master's programmes in Germany.
The dMAT tests how you reason and apply knowledge — not how much you have memorised. All tasks use single-choice format and are in English.

All five conditions below must be true for dMAT to apply to you. If even one is false — you do not need it.

Tests general reasoning and analytical ability — not subject-specific knowledge. Three subtests:
These are the same analytical reasoning patterns tested in GRE Quantitative and SAT Math — structured thinking under timed conditions, not memorised formulas.
Tests subject-specific knowledge and the ability to apply it. Tasks combine a typical problem with related questions — requiring application skills, not purely memorised factual knowledge.
Specific subject modules (Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science) exist for individual university programmes (e.g. RWTH Aachen MSc Battery Science) — these are separate from the APS India requirement.
How scoring works: The percentile rank shows what percentage of other participants scored lower or equal. A score of 70 means 70% of participants scored lower. Universities use the percentile rank — sometimes setting a cut score (e.g. select the top 10% of applicants). A higher percentile rank strengthens your application; a lower one does not automatically disqualify you for APS purposes.

IMFS has been preparing students for standardised aptitude tests since 1997. The reasoning skills at the core of the dMAT — analytical patterns, mathematical logic, structured problem-solving — are the same skills our faculty coaches for GRE Quantitative and SAT Math. We are applying that expertise to India's newest Germany requirement.
Structured drills on figure sequences, Latin square logic, and mathematical equations. Same analytical reasoning framework used in GRE Quant coaching — adapted to dMAT format and timing.
Application-based problem solving for Engineering, Commerce and Business tracks. Focus on applying field knowledge — not memorising facts. Task-type exposure with worked examples.
Full-length timed practice under test conditions. 3.5-hour session structure. Performance review after each mock — understand reasoning gaps, not just correct answers.
IMFS connects dMAT to your broader Germany application — APS certificate, ECTS eligibility, university shortlisting, blocked account. Not just coaching in isolation.
