ACCA membership also requires: completion of the Ethics and Professional Skills module and 3 years of relevant practical work experience (PER). These can run concurrently with study. Passing the Strategic Professional exams alone does not confer full ACCA membership. Source: ACCA Global (accaglobal.com).
Why the UK Is ACCA's Natural Home
ACCA was founded in the UK in 1904. Its strongest university partnerships, its Platinum-approved learning centres, and its deepest employer recognition are all in the UK. When ACCA built its International Masters programme, UK universities were the primary design partners. For Indian ACCA students, the UK has three structural advantages over every other destination.
First: ACCA exemptions are formally built into the MSc curriculum — you skip papers you have already covered. Second: ACCA recognition with UK employers — Big 4, KPMG, Barclays, IBM, and the FTSE 100 broadly — gives your qualification direct market value. Third: the Graduate Route visa (18 months for master's graduates) gives post-study work time to secure employer sponsorship.
The Dual-Track Strategy — How It Actually Works
The key question for every ACCA student: how many exemptions do I get? This depends entirely on how many ACCA papers you have cleared and at what level. Use the official ACCA Exemptions Calculator at accaglobal.com with your specific ACCA history to get a precise count before you apply anywhere.

Indian B.Com graduates with 55–60% aggregate and ACCA at Applied Skills level are typically competitive applicants at Aston and Coventry London. Manchester, Glasgow, and Leeds typically look for 60%+ and a stronger ACCA progress record. None require a GMAT score.
Ireland — Growing Alternative, EU Financial Hub
Ireland has become home to the European headquarters of Alphabet, Meta, Apple, JP Morgan, Citi, and most major global banks and asset managers. ACCA-qualified professionals are in direct demand across these organisations. Irish universities offer ACCA-accredited master's programmes at costs broadly comparable to or lower than the UK, with the added advantage of EU market access.
| University | Programme | IELTS | Post-study visa | Notable advantage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| UCD (University College Dublin) | MSc Accounting, MSc Finance | 6.5 overall | Stay Back — 2 years | AACSB-accredited; Big 4 campus recruitment |
| Trinity College Dublin | MSc Finance | 6.5 overall | Stay Back — 2 years | Ireland's highest-ranked university; EU financial hub |
| University College Cork (UCC) | MSc Accounting | 6.0 overall | Stay Back — 2 years | ACCA-accredited; lower tuition than Dublin |
| NUI Galway | MSc Finance | 6.0 overall | Stay Back — 2 years | Strong tech and financial services employment base |
The Irish Stay Back visa allows master's graduates to remain and work in Ireland for 2 years after graduation without employer sponsorship — giving meaningful time to secure a role in Ireland's significant financial services sector.
Australia — Official ACCA Partner Universities
ACCA has an official partnership with La Trobe University in Australia under its Academic Professional Partnership Programme. Students with a bachelor's degree (any discipline) can study for ACCA Professional level papers through an approved MPA degree. The ACCA Accelerate Program at several Australian universities offers conditional exemptions while students are still enrolled.
| University | Programme | ACCA status | IELTS | Duration | Post-study visa |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| La Trobe University | MPA (ACCA Studies) | Official ACCA partner | 6.5 overall, no band below 6.0 | 18 months | Up to 4 years |
| Macquarie University | MPA with ACCA Studies specialisation | ACCA-accredited; CPA Aus, CA ANZ | 6.5 overall | 18 months | Up to 4 years |
| Deakin University | Master of Professional Accounting | ACCA exemptions on completion; CPA Aus, CA ANZ | 6.5 overall, no band below 6.0 | 12–18 months | Up to 4 years |

| University of Melbourne | Master of Management (Accounting) | ACCA, CPA Australia accredited | 6.5 overall | 18 months | Up to 4 years |
Australia PR pathway: Accounting is on Australia's Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List. After completing an Australian MPA, ACCA-qualified graduates receive a post-study work visa of up to 4 years (up to 5 years for regional Australia). This provides substantial time to gain work experience and apply for PR through Skilled Independent (Subclass 189) or Employer Nomination (Subclass 186) visas.
New Zealand — Affordable, ACCA-Accredited, Strong Work Rights
New Zealand's four major universities all offer ACCA-accredited MPA programmes. The country is significantly more affordable than the UK or Australia — tuition ranges from INR 16–43 lakhs versus INR 22–50 lakhs in the UK — and the Post Study Work Visa allows 3 years of open work rights after graduation.
